Land Rover Defender 90 200 REBUILD GALV EVERYTHING ONE OFF VERY SPECIAL VEHICLE

  
Land Rover Defender 90 200tdi Galvanised Chassis Rebuild. This vehicle has undergone an extensive restoration from top to bottom. The chassis is a brand new Galvanised one from Richards Chassis. Front axle has been rebuilt in its entirety.

To start with the axle casing was shot blasted and hot dipped Galvanised. It was then painted with a corroless primer and a gloss black top coat. The diff was checked for wear and adjusted accordingly, a new seal and flange fitted.

Upon reassembly it was rebuilt with new Timken bearings all round, seals, gaskets, nuts and bolts. New drilled and grooved discs, pads, callipers, flexis and CVs. The rear had exactly the same treatment. The radius arms, trailing arms, A-frame crows feet and pan hard rod were all shot blasted and hot dip Galvanised, and again painted with a corroless primer and a gloss top coat.

Reassembled with new bushes all round and new track rod ends on the steering arms and a new A frame ball joint. Most, if not all, brackets have been shot blasted and Galvanised. Bulkhead brackets, seatbelt mounts, rear shock mounts, tub mounts, panhard rod, panhard rod mount, tie rod, lashing eyes and fuel tank guard just to name a few. New genuine standard height springs were fitted all round along with Supergaz shock absorbers and steering damper. Galvanised spring Seats and turrets. Later style plastic rear tank installed with HD Galvanised tank guard. Wheels and tyres are a set of 5 matching Wolf Wheels, Coopers Stt235/85/16 tyres. All of which are in nearly as new condition. A recon short block was bought and reassembled with new head gasket, valve stem oil seals, timing belt and tensioner, aux belts and water pump. New starter motor and battery. And a new full exhaust system. Th gearbox is in good condition, selects all gears fine. All seals and gaskets were replaced and refitted back to the engine with a new clutch and slave cylinder. Transfer box was a reconditioned unit and is in excellent condition. Selects high/low and diff lock fine, and is a 1.211 ratio.

The radiator and inter cooler are in good condition. All hoses and pipe work was replaced for new items. The slam panel and stays and the radiator frame have been Galvanised along with most other brackets in the engine bay. The heater box, brake and clutch pedal boxes were all stripped, shot blasted, painted and reassembled with new master cylinders and pedal rubbers. Steering column and accelerator pedal were also done and refitted with new UJs.

The bulkhead is a Galvanised one and is in perfect condition. The front wings are in good condition. The inner wings have also been Galvanised.

The rear tub is the later style from a TD5. The underneath has been stripped back and been painted in a Corroless primer and top coat. The 3 under tub strengtheners are Galvanised.

And a full set of Galvanised cappings are fitted. The front doors are in great condition and zero rust or corrosion to the bottoms and new door hinges. The rear door has some bubbling on the skin. The seat box is in fantastic condition and the ends were replaced. The bonnet is in good condition and the frame has been shot blasted and Galvanised.

The battery box, transmission tunnel diaphragm and inner sills are Galvanised items. LED headlights and new lights fitted throughout. New Nakatanenga heritage grill and cast badge and new headlight surrounds. New Galvanised bumper and rubber end caps. Body was assembled with all new seals, nuts, bolts and washers.

The rear is fitted with a set of 4 county rear seats in fantastic condition, custom trimmed to match front seats. The front seats are in fantastic condition with no rips, stains or marks.

These are custom trimmed with new foams etc. The roof lining is trimmed in alcantara brown and sun visors custom trimmed to match seats as are the door cards. Mud console and CD player. Good condition cubby box and aluminium gear knobs. Wright off-road mating kit fitted which helps massively with noise levels and looks very tidy.

The mileage is 182,256, but thats just the clock and obviously doesnt reflect the rest of the vehicle as everything is as new. In summary, if you want a vehicle that is going to last, this is it. Whilst the vehicle is a fantastic example, please bare in mind that it is still a 30 year old Land Rover and has its quirks.

In my opinion you would definitely struggle to find a better Land Rover than this, which is definitely built to last. Will have full MOT on sale.
